President Trump’s trips abroad continue. Currently, he is visiting and enjoying the beauty of the City of Vatican. The First Lady Melania Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump are also present on this trip. Few Trump administration officials are also visiting this Holy place and are meeting with the Catholic Father.
He met with Pope Francis on Wednesday and they exchanged gifts.
The president exchanged gifts with the pontiff giving him a set of Martin Luther King Jr.’s writings. His Holiness gave President Trump documents he customarily gives to heads of state: Amoris Laetitia (“On Love and the Family”), Evangelii Gaudium (“The Joy of the Gospel”), and Laudato Si’ (“On Care for Our Common Home”). Pope Francis told the president he signed one of the texts personally for him.
The president also had a private meeting with Pope Francis that Trump later described to reporters as “great.” On Pope Francis, Trump said, “He is something.” Trump continued, “We had a fantastic meeting.” The president concluded his remarks to the press saying, “We’re liking Italy very, very much and it was an honor to be with the pope.”
After visiting with His Holiness, Trump went on to meet with Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni. The president will conclude his trip to Italy today before heading to Brussels to take part in the G-7 Summit.
So far the Pope is blown away by President Trump and his administration. Positive critics towards him come all the way from Vatican. Good job, President.
